Mountain Home will look much different to the recreating public when it is safe to return. Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest is owned and operated by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, now commonly referred to as CALFIRE. The Department is charged with maintaining a forest that provides for true multiple-use. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks three ponds in the area with trout for public fishing. Two of the ponds are located at Balch Park while the other, Hedrick Pond, is part of Mountain Home.
Small, Medium, and Large size campsites provide options based on the size of your RV or camper. All sites have water and electric hook ups. Public restrooms and an on-site dumping station offer added convenience. The 16-site campground is surrounded by mountains in a wooded setting.

Long-term spaces are easier to snag during an off-season. Camping at an RV park costs more than a campground stay. Like campground rates, RV campsite rates differ from park to park but generally fall between $30 & $80 per night.

This was the best park we stayed in on this 6000 mile trip, we stayed 9 days, monthly rates are very reasonable. Facility is great, restrooms, laundry, pool, overall layout and very roomy for our trailer. Grass was everywhere for our dog, we would stay here again.
Tyler Bend Campground, AR
This place should be the poster child for RV parks of the future. Outstanding design with good wide interior paved roads, spacious sites all with concrete pads and a grass area, nice fenced dog park, clean pool and spa area. One of the best parks we have stayed in anywhere period. We are considering coming back here as a summer destination. I wish this company could build 150 more parks like this across the country to relieve the site crunch we all deal with. We have stayed in enough campgrounds over the years, to know a great place.

Mountain Home has several of the largest and oldest giant sequoia trees in the world with some reaching 240 feet tall and 27 feet in diameter. Many of these specimens are more than 2,000 years old. In 1946, the State of California acted to conserve the huge redwoods on the Mountain Home tract that John Muir called "the finest in the Sierra," and purchased the land from a logging company. The result has been the preservation of more than 4,500 old-growth giant sequoias through active management of the mixed conifer forest that surrounds them. The giant sequoia flourishes among ponderosa pine, sugar pine, white fir and incense-cedar.

My cat is even on a leash and dose not like dogs chasing him or running at him. Very spacious and clean park with a friendly and accommodating staff. We will definitely stay here again, 10/10. The best private room shower with bathroom. Wonderful swimming pool and grass with paved streets.

Dog park, salt water pool and areas to walk. All pads are concrete, nicely spaced and each has trees. Close enough to the freeway but without the noise. Very clean, level sites, with concrete pads, small trimmed trees, and well kept lawns at each site. We enjoyed the stay and will visit again when in the area.

The three-number rating that accompanies each campground listing in the directory gives readers an at-a-glance assessment of a campground's amenities, cleanliness and environment. Mountain Home Demonstration State Forest is managed to balance forest growth with harvest and to sustain its population of old growth Giant Sequoias. CAL FIRE has actively managed Mountain Home to be a resilient, healthy forest by removing drought and beetle killed trees, strategically reducing fuel loads, and introducing prescribed fire. While fishing is the top-rated activity in the lower river area, kayaking, birding and hiking are also very popular. You must contact campgrounds directly for current rates, availability, and reservations.
